Foot Injury SpecialistJackson, WY
Those suffering from a foot injury may not realize how crucial treatment is to save the foot and prevent further pain. In many cases, painkillers will only relieve the pain and not treat the condition. When this happens, more extensive care from a professional will be necessary. Since each person is unique, a treatment plan for one individual is not a one-size-fits-all method for another. By scheduling an appointment with our team, patients can ensure a better quality of personal treatment for their condition.
By consulting with our staff, we can help treat you in an effective manner as soon as possible. After all, there is a wide variety of foot injuries people can experience.
Increased trauma to the foot can result in a bone fracture. A bone fracture can occur from a substantial increase in running or walking, sudden changes in one’s exercise routine, using improper training techniques and more. These can result in a stress fracture or a fracture in the bones of the forefoot that extend into your toes. In other cases, a patient may have dropped a heavy object on the foot or twisted an ankle.
Since the foot contains numerous bones and carries the body, a foot fracture can be dangerous if left untreated. A patient may feel pain and see swelling on a foot that has experienced a fracture. Depending on where the fracture is on the foot, a patient may be able to walk, but will feel pain with each step.
Treatment is not too complex and depends entirely on the damage within the foot. In many cases, a patient will have to tape the broken toe to the adjacent toe and keep as much weight off of it as possible. If surgery is necessary for treatment, then we will provide the treatment and ensure that the patient understand all of the steps in the process.
Ankle sprains are common with patients of all ages. Most likely, an adult has experienced an ankle sprain at least once in his or her life. When someone sprains his or her ankle, the ligaments in the ankle tear. Fortunately, surgery is commonly not required for a typical sprain on the outside part of the ankle.
Depending on how much damage the patient inflicts on the ankle from twisting it, the patient may or may not be able to walk normally. If a patient cannot put weight on the ankle, treatment may take longer than if the patient can put weight on it. Treatment for a sprained ankle usually involves bed rest for about two to three days. During the bed rest, the patient will place an ice pack on it for 20 minutes every two to three hours or so, while also wrapping the foot and keeping it elevated.
If the sprain is severe enough, treatment may take up to several weeks for the ankle to fully heal. In this case, the patient may be unable to play in sports, run or walk as well as before.
UNKNOWN PAIN IN THE FOOT OR ANKLE
As one grows older, one may experience more generalized pain in the foot or ankle. Since this pain can result without a known source, it can be difficult to know if seeking treatment is the best option. The truth is that regardless of the pain one feels, it can be difficult to function with general aches and pains. People are quick to take painkillers and hope for the best, but do not find a treatment method for the symptoms.
